It’s safe to say that we are big fans of wood, but we also think you should be too! Here’s our lowdown on why wood is wonderful.
Wood saves the environment & your bills
As more and more of us are trying to live greener lives, wood is taking a bigger role in our homes. Wood is one of the most naturally renewable resources, meaning it has less of an impact on the environment. It also retains heat at a much better rate than other materials, a huge 7 times more than ceramic tiles, meaning you could save on your energy usage too.
Wood makes you feel better – honestly!
According to woodforgood.com each year we spend 90% of time in buildings and cars yet buildings are still being designed to create issues that can instil Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Including wood additions means that you’re bringing the great outdoors into your home which has been proven to relieve stress, make you feel relaxed and even increase interaction!
Durability & Renewability
When treated correctly, wood can last for decades due to its resistance against heat, cold and pollution. Recent reclaimed wood used by Coleman & Edwards include historic church and school buildings which have been refreshed to create a vintage ‘shabby chic’ look in a new home. Reusing older wood pieces also means less product will be sent to landfill, or be burned, both of which negatively impact the environment.
